Early Life[edit]
Coming from an musical background, Swan was greatly influenced by his parents; His mom was a gospel singer and his dad and uncle were musicians in a blues band . His mother seeing Swan's talents at the early age of 5 years old, she had him perform in front of friends and family. She had Swan study and perform the greats; James Brown, The Jackson 5, Ray Charles, Elton John, The O'Jays, Ohio Players, The Temptations, Otis Redding, Johnny Mathis , Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons (band) , Sly and the Family Stone, Doo-wop singers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Marvin Gaye and Elvis Presley at several Talent shows . On his 12th birthday, Swan's uncle introduced him to instruments by buying him a guitar, from there Swan taught hisself how to play guitar, drums and bongoes . Growing up in the era where Hip hop music was born, Swan picked up rapping, beatboxing and Dj skills, but singing was always his passion. Swan then went on to Five Towns College , where he met his musical partner Biz Markie .
Career[edit]
1980s[edit]
After Swan graduated college, Swan and Biz perfected their craft and signed their first deal with Prism Records and had success charting on Billboard, With the classic hit"Make the Music with Your Mouth, Biz" well as "Nobody Beats The Biz", "Albee Square Mall"[12]," The Vapors" . Biz and Swan then went to Cold Chillin' Records where they became part of the group founded by Mr. Magic , Juice Crew. Many major labels approached Swan but he decided to sign with Clive Davis new label at the time, Arista Records. Due to a disagreement Swan walked away from his deal and decided to stay on the rode touring. If Swan would have signed the last contract to put out his album, "Have no fear Swan is here," his debut would've been in 1988.
1990s[edit]
Swan remained writing, producing, managing and promoting for the duration of his career.[13] His writing/co-writing credits include songs " Around the Way Girl" (1990)for LL Cool J and "Boy You Are The One"(1994)[14] For Keita.
Early 2000s[edit]
