Taitobe Hill (Karaul Hill) is a hill located in the Tselinograd district of Akmola region, 30 kilometers south of Nur-Sultan.

History[edit]

In 1999, K.A. Akishev found the Taitobe cemetery at the top of the hill. Its description was written down during an Ishim archaeological expedition in 2000. In 2002, the plan of the cemetery was taken and a mound was dug. Milo This territory was owned by an Argyns breed. At present, there is a large Muslim cemetery at the northwestern foot of the hill.

During the colonization of Saryarka in 1830, the Russian Empire wanted to open the center of one of the first districts in Taitobe. In late May 1830, a detachment of Cossacks led by Lieutenant Colonel Shubin went to the construction site. On August 22, 1832, celebrations were held in honor of the opening of the Akmola diwan (duan - from the Arabic word diwan, which means the Soviet, the place of power, in the sense of the district center). Then the center was moved to its current location, ie Karaotkel. On the upper right bank of the Nura, the sites of the first buildings dedicated to the Akmola diwan are still preserved. Thus, Taitobe testifies the history of the people from ancient times to the twentieth century.

Etymology[edit]

The meaning of the word "Taitobe" is associated with the era of enemy attacks because "Tai" in ancient times served as a guard hill. In the Kazakh language, the word "Thai" originally means height, hill, tent. Later, the meaning of the term "Thai" was associated with a place of defense and the guard. Today, the name Taitobe is one of the most popular toponyms in epic legends.
