Takaku Fuke (冨宅飛駈; January 30, 1969-), born Yusuke Fuke (冨宅裕介) is a Japanese professional wrestler and former mixed martial arts fighter. He was most notably involved in the early days of Pancrase, at infancy of Mixed Martial Arts in Japan.[2][additional citation(s) needed] There he fought many future mixed martial artists early in their MMA careers, such as Bas Rutten, Minoru Suzuki, Ken Shamrock, and Manabu Yamada.[3][4] MMA Ranking portal Fight Matrix ranked Takaku Fuke as #2 Heavyweight and #4 Pound-for-Pound best MMA fighter in the world in 1994.[5][6]
Presently, Fuke works as a professional wrestler, working at the Japanese independent scene.[citation needed]
Background
- Fuke was an active practitioner of Judo in High School.[7]
- 1989, after graduating from High School, he became a UWF trainee. There, he would train with likes of Tatsuo Nakano[8] and Ken Shamrock.[9]
- August 13, 1990 - made his debut against Masahito Kakihara as Yusuke Tomiya (冨宅祐輔) at the UWF Yokohama Arena Tournament.[10][better source needed]
- After the dissolution of UWF in January 1991, he joined Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi.[citation needed]
- While employed with PWFG, he was involved in a proto-mma match with kickboxer Lawi Napataya.[11]
- After leaving Pro Wrestling Fujiwara Gumi in December 1992, he joined Pancrase. He changed his ring name to Takaku Fuke.
- At the beginning of the launch of Pancrase, Fuke was highly successful.
- November 1993, Fuke lost to Ken Shamrock via Submission.[12]
- July 1994, Fuke defeated Jason DeLucia, who had defeated Masakatsu Funaki in his Pancrase debut match.
- In December 1994, Fuke took part in the King of Pancrase Tournament, where he would lose against Maurice Smith in first round.[13][14]
- However, as competition increased and his physical condition could not keep up with new competition.
- His final MMA match was against Yuji Hoshino on February 16, 2003.
- In June 2003, he transferred to the new section "Pancrase MISSION" in Pancrase from "Pancrase Osaka" to which he belonged. He became a player belonging to MISSION next to Minoru Suzuki, and in the same month, participated in "U-STYLE" for the first time.[7]
- He worked on the main event against Kiyoshi Tamura, his senior in UWF.
- Afterwards, Fuke began to participate in independent pro wrestling groups in the Kansai region.
- On March 13, 2012, Genichiro Tenryu of the Tenryu Project was absent for a long time due to surgery and rehabilitation for lumbar spinal stenosis. Fuke joined the Tenryu Project for a limited time until Tenryu returned and became a member of two groups.[specify]
- In October 2013, he left the Tenryu Project.
- In November 7th, 2014 at WRESTLE-1/ZERO-ONE KASSEN ~ Battle ZERO1 Vs. W-1 Tournament - Day 3, he worked a match with his old Pancrase alumni, Masakatsu Funaki.[15]
- In February 2019, at WRESTLE-1 Keiji Muto Produce Pro-Wrestling Masters event, Fuke took part in a 6-man tag team match, teamed up with Mitsuya Nagai and Yoshiaki Fujiwara, against Jushin Thunder Liger, Riki Choshu and Tatsumi Fujinami.[16]
