Takuma Tanaka
Notable Work[edit]
Takuma Tanaka's “Blue rose" painting is in the permanent collection of the Ulster Museum[1][2]
Mysteries of nature and human beings have been questions Tanaka have been wondering about since he was a child. To seek an answer to these questions, Tanaka has been learning his whole life, which bought him to his current occupation as an artist. This allows him to utilize his wide range of vision for science of all kings and something beyond that. At present, Tanaka has reached a stage as an artist where the mysteries he has been feeling are not actually mysteries.[3]
Tanaka says: “My initiative consists of 2 elements. Painting and selling, Educating people about painting. At the root of all the work that I pursue is the theme of “overhead view”. That is observing the world and society from bird's-eye view. Rather than analyzing one micro thing in detail, I look at things from a broad perspective, find something in common/pattern, and I express that. It is my wish for people to cultivate this perspective of viewing the world.”[4]
His paintings involve textural elements and surreal fantastical figures that are created by Tanaka himself, such as the “Human-sushi series” and involve deep insights into human nature.[3]
