I have deleted the following text as this is incorrect.

The James Wearing Smith cited below is a real person (he was my uncle) and the war service cited is correct. However, he is not the grandfather of the person who is subject of this article. (There are two Wearing Smith families - both with common 19th Century ancestry (James Smith and Augusta Wearing), hence the Wearing Smith name.

"Wearing-Smith's grandfather, James Wearing Smith III, was born in renowned Goldfields-Esperance town of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, on the 23rd February 1909, and enlisted into the Australian Army after World War I and fought in Libya during World War II, receiving The Rats of Tobruk medal of bravery for his services as one of the soldiers of the garrison that held the Libyan port of Tobruk against the Afrika Corps."

Not exactly relevant to this disscusion, but I want to thank your uncle for participating in the struggle against fascism. GPCR1966 (talk) 03:11, 3 November 2019 (CET)
