tayp [stylized with a small t/pronounced: tape] is a bitesize voice social media platform. Studies showed increasing polarisation in society in the 2020s.[1] The mission of tayp is to get people to listen to each other without interrupting in the form of voice notes.[2]

Introduction[edit]

Founded by Digital consultant James Mercer and developer Joseph Banson, the idea of tayp was created when Mercer was a social media manager noticing how cruel people can be on social media through using impersonal platforms. Also, he claimed there is a lot of talking and not a lot of listening. He founded tayp, a bitesize voice social media platform to allow people to start listening to each other without interruption.[3][4][5]

Operation[edit]

tayp currently operates in Ghana and the United Kingdom with a view of going global.[2]

African Social Media[edit]

Part of the passion behind the creation of tayp is a successful social media platform born out of Africa. The founding team all have African backgrounds and the technical staff all operate in Ghana. tayp appeared in Tech In Ghana, Yfm, Barclays Eagle Labs, Sound of Accra Podcast, TechRound and more.[6][7]
