Tochukwu Ezeji (born 1996) better known by his stage name Tchap0, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, actor, performer, from Enugu, Nigeria.[2] He is credited with creating the AfroLife style of music, which is a fusion of traditional high-life tunes and contemporary pop elements.[3]
Life and career
Early life and Education
Tchap0 was born in Nigeria and hails from Imo State, in the eastern part of the country. He started singing at a young age in the church choir, performing at church events alongside his sister.[1] He had his primary and secondary education in Enugu State before proceeding to further his tertiary education at Geoffrey Okoye University where he majored in Economics.[4]
Career
His music career officially began in 2017, when he released his first single 'Whine' in May 2017, before being signed to his current label where he subsequently released another single 'kilofe'.[5] In December 2017, Tchap0 announced that he was creating a new form of music that would be known as 'AfroLife', a fusion of traditional high-life tunes and contemporary pop elements.[6] In 2019, he released his first body of work Paradox with features from various artists.
Tchap0 has previously cited Michael Jackson, Psquare, Kanye West, Burna Boy as his musical influences.[7]
