Tech Sideline is a subscription-based media outlet covering Virginia Tech athletics. Created on March 12, 1996 by Will Stewart, it is an independent publication that employs full-time staff members to cover the Hokies and has since its inception. The site is also known as TechSideline.com or TSL. In 1997, the organization morphed into HokieCentral.com before joining the SportsWar network in August of 1999. The TSL headquarters are located in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center.

Stewart, a 1987 graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in electrical engineering, is the Founder and General Manager. He has run TechSideline.com since it joined SportsWar.com in 1999. In July of 2005, TSL hired Chris Coleman, a 2005 graduate of Tech with a degree in history. He was named Managing Editor in 2009. David Cunningham was brought on as Managing Editor in July of 2021, and Coleman was promoted to the role of Lead Analyst & Columnist. Cunningham is a 2021 graduate of Virginia Tech's Sports Media & Analytics (SMA) program and is the organization's football and men's basketball beat writer.

TechSideline.com also employs numerous contributors, including Brandon Patterson, a football analyst, Chip Grubb, a softball writer, Ivan Morozov, a photographer, Jason Stamm, a recruiting writer, and Jon Fleming, a photographer. Patterson, Grubb and Stamm each started with the organization between 2015 and 2021, while Morozov started working for then-HokieCentral in 1997.

TSL works closely with the Virginia Tech School of Communication and created the Tech Sideline Endowed Scholarship in 2018. As of July 2022, $84,691 has been donated, with $80,106 coming from Tech Sideline. The group also employs a team of students from the Sports Media & Analytics program who contribute in a variety of ways, from podcast and on-air appearances to beat writing and covering various sporting events. The group includes Abby Neilson, Carter Hill, Chris Hirons, Giovanni Heater, Jack Brizendine, Jake Lyman, Katie Adams and Nick Brown.

The TSL Podcast was created in August of 2017 and has over 250 episodes to its name. Tech Sideline produces two podcasts a week throughout the Virginia Tech football season that are available on YouTube, Apple Podcast, Spotify, SoundCloud and other audio platforms.
