Technical College Bandarawela Is Located in a Land of 526 Hectares in Wewathanna Gramasewaka Division belongs to Bandarawela Divisional Secretariat area and Badulla District in Uva Province. Main Access to the College is Arrive through St. Thomas junction in Bandarawela-Walimada Road and it is easy to reach the College from Ambegoda. Which is about 4 Km away from Bandarawela City in Welimada Road.
The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony was held on 03rd of May 1985 Which the Participation of Hon. A.M.R.B.Attanayake, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Hon. R.M. Appuhami, the Minister of Parliament Under the Supervision of Hon. J.R.Jayawardhane, the President of Socialist Democratic S.L. and the Minister of Higher Education. The First Batch for Academic was recruited on 10th December 1987.
The Institute was functioned under the Department of Technical Education and Training which belongs to the ministry of Vocational Training and Rural Industries. The Three Storied Building was opened on 28th of October 1997 by Hon. Amarasiri Dodangoda the Minister of Vocational Training and Rural Industries.
The newly Build Building was Consisted of Administrative Section, Library, Auditorium, Computer Unit, Technical Drawing and Electronic Section.
Before 2000 Several Courses Including Pluming Secretarial Practice and Light Vehicle Technician Conducted Separately was Assigned by the Vocational Training Authority.
Sri Lanka Construction Industries Maintenance and Training Center Functioned under the Department of technical Education and Training was named as Technical College, Bandarawela in 2001.
