TerryTheVoice
Terrence Odenigbo [1] popularly known by his stage name TerryTheVoice , is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and voice-over artist.[2] [3]
Life and career
Early life and education
Terrence Odenigbo is the fourth child in a family of five. His father is a former civil servant, while his mother is a high school teacher.[4] As a child, he was attracted to radio commercials and movie narrations, which he used to mimic, leading to his decision to become an artist at the age of eight years old with support from his mother, who said his ability was an art from which he would benefit.[5] He had his primary education at the International Nursery and Primary school, and Nsukka Secondary School for his secondary education.[6]
Career
His career started while he was studying Psychology at Godfrey Okoye University, where he was an OAP in the university radio, followed by voice-over artistry. While in school, he met Westley, who helped him hone his music and became his manager, before they came up with the name "TerryTheVoice" and secured their first music contract.[7]
In 2017, TerryTheVoice released his debut single, titled "Price on my Head". His musical style has been described as a fusion of contemporary Hip-hop and Afro-pop. TerryTheVoice revealed that an extended playlist called "Under Surveillance" will be released soon.[8]
Influences
Terry has expressed that his music is influenced by the likes of D'banj, Future, and Ajebutter, while stating that Burna Boy is the best African musician due to his radical and conscious style of music, which he believes is capable of causing social change.[9]
