Tharyk Yhair William Calec Cena Galíndez (born May 6th), better known as Tharyk, is an Argentine-Swedish singer, songwriter, and actor, from Córdoba, Argentina. He began his musical career in 2015 with a demo called Disfruta el Momento. Tharyk has been featured in the Coca-Cola Flow Festival.[1]. In 2021, his song Enamorao was highlighted by Billboard Argentina as the first reggaeton song with genre-neutral lyrics[2]. In 2022 he took part in the Netflix show Who likes my follower? (A quién le gusta mi follower?)[3]

Early life[edit]

Tharyk was born in Córdoba, and raised by his grandmother after both his parents abandoned the entire family[4]. His grandmother artistic influence led him to study musical comedy and acting at Germán Kraus academy, and from a young age he participated singing in local TV shows such as Telemanías.

Career[edit]

In 2014, he moves to Sweden signed by the label ginTONIC Records and starts working full time on his first studio album, Mi Destino. The album was launched in December 2015, consisting of 10 songs mastered by the engineer Peter Doell at Universal Music Studios in New York. In 2017, Tharyk releases a remixed version of the 1998's telenovela opening La usurpadora, which was greatly received[5][6]

In 2019, his single Sin Penas was the artist's first to reach 1 million streams on Spotify. In November that year, Tharyk presented the track as part of the lineup in the Coca-Cola Flow Fest festival held in Mexico City, Mexico.[1][7]

In 2021 he released his single Enamorao was featured by Billboard Argentina for being the first reggaeton song with genre-neutral lyrics[2]. The song reached 1 million views on YouTube in less than three weeks, setting a new record for the artist.

In 2022, he made appearance in the reality TV show from Netflix "Who likes my follower?" (A quién le gusta mi follower?[8][9]).
