The Addams Family 2 is an upcoming American computer-animated supernatural black comedy horror film directed by Greg Tiernan, written by Matt Lieberman and based on the characters created by Charles Addams. Serving as a sequel to the 2019 film, the film features the voices of Oscar Isaac, Charlize Theron, Chloë Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll, Javon "Wanna" Walton, Snoop Dogg, Bette Midler, Bill Hader, and Wallace Shawn.
It will be theatrically released in the United States by United Artists Releasing and internationally by Universal Pictures on October 1, 2021.
Plot[edit]
Morticia and Gomez are distraught that their children are growing up, skipping family dinners, and overly consumed with "scream time". To reclaim their bond, they decide to cram Wednesday, Pugsley, Uncle Fester, and the crew into their haunted camper and hit the road for one last miserable family vacation. Their adventure across America takes them out of their element and into run-ins with their cousin Itt and other kooky characters.[1]

Production[edit]
Development[edit]
Following the 2019 film's successful opening weekend on October 15, 2019, it was announced that a sequel to the film was scheduled to be theatrically released on October 22, 2021,[2] and that Greg Tiernan and Conrad Vernon would return to direct the film.[3] Tiernan was later announced as solo director for the film.[4] Cinesite Studios will serve as a production partner for the film.[5] In July 2021, Mychael Danna and Jeff Danna were revealed to have composed the score for The Addams Family 2, having returned from the first film.[6]
Casting[edit]
On October 8, 2020, Bill Hader and Javon "Wanna" Walton joined the cast. Hader will play a new character named Cyrus, while Walton replaces Finn Wolfhard as the voice of Pugsley Addams.[4] In July 2021, Wallace Shawn was revealed to have voiced a new character for the film.[7]
Release[edit]
The Addams Family 2 will be theatrically released in the United States by United Artists Releasing and internationally by Universal Pictures on October 1, 2021.[8] It was previously scheduled for October 22 and October 8.[2][4] In June 2021, United Artists Releasing announced they do not plan on rescheduling The Addams Family 2, in the wake of Hotel Transylvania: Transformania moving to the same weekend.[9]
