The Ballad of Sandeep is a 2011[1] comedy short film, directed by Derek Frey, and starring Deep Roy[2]. It's written by and co-starring The Minor Prophets.[3][4][5][6][7]

Synopsis[edit]

The main protagonist of film is Sandeep Majumdar (Deep Roy) who has completed his IT job and outsourced to Banglore, India. He was unemployed for the first time in last 18 years. Now, his main opportunity is to make his company's people, including his boss, fool that he is working from India. For that, he sets up a remote access in his apartment.

He was fired two months ago by his boss but after fooling them, he again got his job and with a big promotion!

"The Minor Prophets conceived of the story in late 2009.

Director/Producer Derek Frey pitched the story to Deep Roy in Los Angeles in February of 2010.

Deep agreed to it immediately. The final script was completed in April of 2010.

Preproduction began in May of 2010. Filming took place in and around Philadelphia, PA in August of 2010. Editing in London ran up until late 2010 with scoring taking place in the UK at Air Lyndhurst Studios in February of 2011.

A special advanced work print screening was arranged for Deep Roy in Malibu, California in March of 2011."[4]

"The Ballad of Sandeep" premiered at the historic Trocadero Theater in Philadelphia, PA on April 15th 2011.[4]

Released worldwide in 2012, by Lazer Film Productions. Its duration is 28 minutes.[10][11][12][13][14]

Reception[edit]

Deep Roy (left) received acclaim from critics for his acting in the film, while Derek Frey (director) (2nd image, right-side) was praised for his direction.

It received generally positive reviews from critics. Deep Roy also got much praise for his acting from critics.[citation needed]

It has won several awards such as "Best Comedy Short - 2011" at Jersey Shore Film Festival.[citation needed] It also won "International film festival of Peace, Inspiration and Equality" in 2012.[citation needed][citation needed]
