The Bank of India (1836) was a bank founded in the year 1836 in British India. The bank became defunct with the winding down of its operations in the same year in which it was founded, that is 1836. The bank was notable for being the eighteenth oldest bank in India.[1][2]

The Bank of India (London) was founded in 1836 in London, England. Although the bank was founded in London, its purpose was to serve customers residing in British India.[1][2]
Management[edit]
The bank was staffed by mostly British nationals who were drawn mainly from the East India Company.[1][2] The bank was headquartered in London in England.[1][2]
Final years[edit]
In 1836, the bank was on the verge of failure.[1][2] The bank was finally closed in the year 1836.[1][2]
