The Brand is Female is a Canadian podcast hosted by Eva Hartling which brings listeners "authentic stories of self-accomplishment from powerful and iconic women of all backgrounds including entrepreneurs, business leaders, media personalities and more",[1][2] produced by The Brand is Female.

History[edit]

The Brand is Female began on January 6, 2019 with an episode featuring Canadian photographer Caitlin Cronenberg. The weekly podcast is hosted by Eva Hartling, founder of a strategic brand communications agency of the same name which "specializes in working with purpose-driven companies, including women-led and women-focused brands in fashion, lifestyle, beauty and more, and the podcast is an extension of that ethos of female empowerment".[3]

In 2020, the podcast entered a partnership with TD Bank Group Women in Enterprise's division, who became an official sponsor of the podcast.

In 2021, The Brand is Female started producing podcasts for independent hosts -- including Shayla Stonechild's Matriarch Movement which features conversations with Indigenous women "on topics like decolonization, law and justice, Indigenous representation in media, and beyond,"[4]; former Wedding Bells Editor in Chief Alison McGill's Aisle Seat podcast, "the ultimate destination for brides, grooms, and wedding lovers everywhere, to get an inside look into the wedding industry—featuring conversations with some of the top industry professionals around the world"[5] as well as "Everyday Ubuntu, hosted by human rights advocate Mungi Ngomane and the author of Everyday Ubuntu: Living Better the African Way"[6] -- in addition to white-label podcasts for organizations and brands.

In 2021, The Brand is Female podcast was part of a Spotify ad campaign and the podcast title and host photograph appeared on a billboard located outside of Toronto's Eaton Centre.

In 2022, The Brand is Female podcast partnered with the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada for a World Contraception Day roundtable including "physicians and advocacy groups to address unintended pregnancies and the need for improved sex education".[7] Hosted by Eva Hartling, the discussion featured Dr. Francoeur and Frederique Chabot, Director of Domestic Health Promotion at Action Canada for Sexual Health and Rights, as well as other healthcare professionals.
