The Bridge is the seventh episode of season five. Robin Buckley starts clutching Max Mayfield’s body and tearfully starts crying. Jim Hopper, Eleven, Kali Prasad, and Mike Wheeler reunite with Robin. She quickly realizes that Holly Wheeler is probably gone since Max was quickly defeated by Vecna. Holly wakes up being imprisoned by Vecna and realizes what happened to Mr. Sandman. Tearfully, she rips apart the vines holding her and following Mr. Sandman’s final wishes, jumps. Nancy Wheeler and Jonathan Byers are stuck in the rubble of the attic when suddenly Steve Harrington and Dustin Henderson bust open the ground below them, causing them to reunite. All of a sudden, Martin Brenner’s ghost appears and tells them Holly isn’t going to make it. They hear Holly scream and see her body hitting the ground. Erica Sinclair is supervising a date that Scott Clarke and Murray Bauman are having fun sailing balloons when all of a sudden Mr. Clarke accidentally lets go of his. To make him feel better, Murray also lets go of his. Will Byers starts arguing with Joyce Byers, who tells Will that Holly’s disappearance is his fault. Robin is approached by military members, who ask her questions about the Demodogs, Robin says that the Demodogs like music, including famous songs such as Dream a Little Dream of Me. The kids tell Karen Wheeler that they think Holly might be gone right as Scott hears Dustin’s sounds underground. At Robin’s farm, Joyce and Will reunite with the rest of the group. Robin starts talking about how unfortunate Holly must have been, and the group decide that they should break into the mines so that they can find Holly’s body and bury it. Dustin finds out that the mine had many layers, with the closest layer being where Will was taken to, the layer where Holly’s body was, and the layer closest to the crust, where Vecna lived. They assume that Vecna will steal the kids and skin them alive, using their remains to create a wall so that his layer could be blocked off from Hawkins. Hopper suggests finding Commander Wolffe and making him take them to Holly, but Steve says that child pain was a good idea and forced all of the kids to play rock-paper-scissors. El, Will, and Kali lose, and Steve says that they have to go to Vecna’s layer and distract him while they find Holly’s body. Afterward, they would use a big-bomb to destroy the mines. Hopper tells everybody that they should not trust Kali, as she resulted in many people like Soichiro getting attacked, and deceasing. Mike shows Robin the bomb he plans on using to destroy the mines, the Tsar Bomba. Dustin and Steve fight about who gets to wear Eddie Munson’s trash can as armor, in which Dustin gets crushed by the trash can. Kali tells El that the rest of the group was awful for forcing them into this bad situation, and that they should abandon them to punish lawbreakers via bus accidents or more. El considers this deal when Murray suddenly pushes them into his van. Will gathers the entire group and decides to admit a secret he has had for many years; he was a woman. The reason he didn’t like girls like Robin and El was because he was the same gender, and he also hated many other things about people, like black, Asian, or gay people. Robin is so mad at this she slaps Will, and the others quickly follow suit. Hopper breaks into Doctor Kay’s lab and starts causing chaos, causing Dr. Kay to regret this. Murray’s truck speeds off into a journey to the center of the Earth. Derek Turnbow and Mary get into a fight while Vecna watches them. Vecna gathers all twelve of the children (including Peter, Andrew, Judas Iscariot, Simon the Zealot, and eight more) to have a Last Supper, where Vecna asks the children to share their apostles before they involuntarily be Vecna’s shield. Vecna then has a final meal with the children and predicts that one of them will betray him. Vecna warns them that the first person to leave the table will leave this world first, but the kids neglect this and all stand up at the same time, as a clock starts chiming.
