Development[edit]
In May 2023, the studio hired The Addams Family's director Erica Rivinoja to handle the creative work on the film.
On January 24, 2018, it was announced that Warner Animation Group was in development of a different musical animated Cat in the Hat film as part of a creative partnership with Seuss Enterprises.
Casting[edit]
In June 2023, Jack Black was announced to voice The Cat in the Hat. In September 2023, Tom Holland, Ron Yuan, Iain Armitage Amanda Seyfried, Ella Allan, Cristela Alonzo, Grant Gustin, Grey DeLisle, Tara Strong, Dave B. Mitchell, Matt Bennett, Jenna Ortega, Travis Willingham and Brian Hull were added to the cast. In November 2023, it was later announced that Keegan-Michael Key would replace Black. Sony Pictures Imageworks handled animation services for the film

Release[edit]
The Cat in the Hat, in June 2023, the release date was rescheduled to March 15, 2024. In November 2023, it was pushed back again by one week to March 22, but in June 2023, the release date was moved to its current March 15 date, taking over the release of Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. An extended sneak peek of the movie in the form of a short film called The Cat in the Hat was attached to theatrical showings of Warner Animation Group's Hitpig on September 15, 2023.
