The Fappening is a 2015 American horror film written and directed by Sean Weathers and starring Lloyd Kaufman, Tina Krause and Joel M. Reed.
Plot[edit]
Séan stars as a struggling filmmaker who has a penchant for sleeping with the women who star in his films and recording compromising pictures and videos of them on his cellphone. One day his phone is hacked and all of his exploits are exposed on the internet having both positive and negative effects on the careers of all of those involved. As the tensions boil over the consequences start becoming deadly.[2][3]

Production[edit]
Inspired by the actual fappening, the August 2014 celebrity cellphone hack, which lead to an online leak of over 500 nude pictures and videos of various female celebrities including Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton and Ariana Grande amongst others.[4] The film substitutes the A-list celebrities with Z-list scream queens and filmmakers. Séan stars as Alan Smithee the name given to filmmakers that wish to disown their work, Erika Smith stars as Kim Kardashian and the rest of the main cast all star as heightened versions of themselves.
Reception[edit]
The film received a limited, but mostly positive response from critics, praising Séan's performance. Classicalite stated "Weathers is a curio of a talent."[5] and Through the Black Hole added, "'What do you get when you cross the comedic dialogue brilliance of Kevin Smith, the grittiness of an 80’s Abel Ferrara and the sleazy fun of Russ Meyer? You get the films of Sean Weathers.' 9/10"[6] Horror Society while finding Weathers very convincing at portraying a raunchy, sex-obsessed druggie, found everything else about the movie hit or miss.[7]
