The Hellfreaks is a Hungarian rock/metal band from Budapest, Hungary. The band was originally formend in February of 2009 by Zsuzsa Radnóti (then drums but later switched to vocals), László Tóth (guitar), Zsolt Weinhandl (double bass) and Gábor Szövetes (drums). At that time Radnóti was the drummer in a band with one of her friends. They decided to switch roles for a song so Radnóti sung and her friend drummed. They later teamed up with Tóth as their guitarist. Then, toghether with two other friends they formed The Hellfreaks. For a while both bands could run together, but after they received more and more gig requests for The Hellfreaks they did not have any more time for the other band. Since then they have gone through several changes of the members. The band now consists of Zsuzsa Radnóti (vocals), József Takács (guitar), Gábor Domján (electric bass) and Béla Budai (drums).
Musical style and influences[edit]
When The Hellfreaks started they were a psychobilly/horrorpunk band, nowadays they dropped the horror aspect and are more of a punk rock and heavy metal band. The band has named Billy Talent, Mad Ball, Mastodon among their influenced and Radnóti's vocal style is heavily influenced by acts like The Distillers, Marmozets, Jinjer and The Pretty Reckless.
