The Lady of the Palace (Arabic: سيدة القصر, transliterated Sayyidat al-Qasr) is an Egyptian film released in 1958. The film is directed by Kamal El Sheikh, and stars Faten Hamama and Omar Sharif.[1][2]
Synopsis[edit]
Sawsan is an orphan teenaged girl who meets a wealthy young man named Adel at an auction hall, who admires her and wears down her resistance to marriage. They marry and go on their honeymoon, but after returning Adel spends his nights consorting with seedy companions who resent her protectiveness of her husband. Sawsan cares for his neglected estate with the help of a friend of Adel, but Adel's other friends are trying to arrange for a buyer to purchase the land, so she tries to persuade him not to sell. Adel ultimately abandons his friends and returns to his wife and home.
