The Lassie Foundation was an indie pop/noise pop band from Southern California, active from 1996 to 2006. They were known for their unique sound, which blended the classic shoegazing sound of bands like Lush and Ride with the Brian Wilson-inspired harmonies and arrangements of the Boo Radleys, Lilys, and other latter-day psych-pop bands. Their sound was dubbed "pink-noise pop".
The band released their debut EP, "California" in 1996 on Velvet Blue Music.[1], followed by "The Dive Bomber" EP in 1998. In 1999, they self-released their first full-length album "Pacifico", which caught the attention of Anisette Records, who re-released the album in 2000. The band also released "El Rey" EP in 2000 and "The El Dorado LP" in 2001.
The band consisted of Eric Campuzano, Wayne Everett, and Jeff Schroeder as the core members, and were supported live and in the studio by Happy Tsugawa-Banta (vibes & keyboards) and Joel Patterson (drums).
The Lassie Foundation disbanded in 2006, but reunited several times since then, releasing new music. As of May 2007, Jeff Schroeder became the new guitarist for The Smashing Pumpkins.
In 2021, they remastered and released California and Pacifico on Bandcamp. In May 2022, they released the Cave Sessions EP, which features four re-recorded versions of early Lassie Foundation songs[2]
