The LegalTech Fund (TLTF) is an American venture capital firm based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, that invests in legal technology companies. Founded in 2021, it has been described as the first venture capital fund dedicated exclusively to legal technology.[1][2]
History
The LegalTech Fund was founded in 2021 by Zach Posner and Sam Elhag.[3] In June 2022, the firm announced it had closed its inaugural fund at $28.5 million, exceeding its $25 million target.[4] Investors included law firms McDermott Will & Emery and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, as well as technology companies DocuSign and Carta.[1]
Investments
The LegalTech Fund invests in early-stage companies developing technology for the legal industry. Its investment areas include practice management software, document automation, regulatory technology, and alternative legal service providers.[5] As of 2025, the fund's portfolio included over 70 companies.[3]
Activities
The firm organizes the annual TLTF Summit, an invite-only event for leaders in the legal technology industry.[6] In July 2025, it launched The LegalTech Lab, an accelerator program for early-stage startups focused on transforming legal service delivery models, a concept the fund refers to as "Law Firm 2.0".[7] The fund also produces the Legal(tech) Briefs podcast.[8]
