Premise[edit]

A coming-of-age story that spans two decades, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart follows a young girl whose escape from a violent childhood continues to haunt her adult life. But through learning how to communicate through the language of native Australian flowers, introduced to her from her flower-farmer grandmother, Alice discovers the secret of her family and how to fight for her life.

Production[edit]

After the book's Australian release in March 2018 and ahead of its US release in March 2019, it was announced that Bruna Papandrea's Made Up Stories had optioned The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart for television.[1]

On May 18, 2021, it was announced that Sigourney Weaver was attached to star and executive produce the series, set up with Prime Video. During this time, it was announced that the award-winning Australian screenwriter Sarah Lambert is the showrunner and writer of the series, and that Glendyn Ivin will direct all seven episodes. The project will be filmed in Australia so that the production can capture the native wildflowers and plants that constitute the storyline[2]
