"The LotusPond" is a 2011 Indian English/Telugu adventure drama film based on school education at boarding schools written and directed by P.G. Vinda. Produced by A.L.Nitin Kumar, it features Akash Petla, Rohit Ranka, Karan Shehgal, Harsh Khurana, and Ramavathar Yadav in the lead roles.[2].The music was composed by Sunil Kashyap while cinematography was handled by P. G. Vinda. Akash Petla protagonist as Neeraj,Rohit Ranka as Ajay a boy with springs in his boots very active in sports and co-actors Karan Sehgal a pathfinder, Harsh Khurana a well known theater artist from NSD fraternity as Chowdary a School teacher and Ram Avatar D G P appears in an special appearance as a strict principal at Boarding school . The film was in India competition category world premeior at the 17 th International Children film Festival of India The golden Elephant,[3]'The Golden Elephant' being organized under the aegis of Children's Film Society of India (CFSI) and Andhra Pradesh government. The direction performances of actors cinematography received praise and earned several applauses. The lotus Pond film also got exempted from entertainment tax at Andhra Pradesh government and released on 30 sept 2011.[4] [5] Upon release, the movie bagged positive reviews with critics praising ccinematography ,performanceand simplicity in narrative story telling.[6] [7].[8] [9]. Do you remember the first time you took a train ride alone? Or the first time you stepped in an airplane and felt your stomach churning during take off? Or the first time you were lost in an unknown place and the only thing you wanted the most in this world was to go home. This is the story about two ten-year-old boys, studying in boarding school-a household name in India, has the distinction of having a lot of famous and influential Indians in its alumni list. Based in the hills of Kulu, a hill station on the foothills of Himalayas. The school is quite well known for its discipline and code of conduct and it enjoys a pedigree that no other educational institution in India can come close to. Neeraj and Ajay are two young protagonists and classmates. Neeraj is a daydreamer, who is good at academics and extracurricular activities. Neeraj always wanted to pursue and explore the things One of the boys, a dreamer, who is more interested in paintings and other extracurricular activities, is told of a lotus pond by one of the teachers. Intrigued by the beauty of the supposed lotus pond, Neeraj decides to visit it along with his best buddy Ajay. One fine morning, they venture out to explore in search of the lotus pond and land up in the unknown woods. Their search begins in the unknown woods and in spite of not knowing any route; they keep going to towards the supposed lotus pond with the help of local people. Along the way, they start learning a lot about the life of the people and nature. In spite of all major obstacles, do they get successful in reaching the lotus pond?

PG Vinda in the search of lotus pond had real journey discovering places he wrote a story in the year of 20001and Initially recce Vinda went through mountains of Uttarakhand valley of flowers and Hemkund saheb and Chardham etc., He felt mountains are gigantic to explore and travel for kids,

he completed the first draft 2005, went through several drafts and Vinda pitched the idea to AL Nitin Kumar the producer and creative director of Vihari The Traveller The TIM Pvt ltd company they went through recce at Uttarakhand Himachal location and finally, PG Vinda found the right place after their trekking trip at YHA National Himalayan Trekking trip the Surkundipass and the Surpass trip. a trip to Ladakh found some locations at higher altitude 1400 ft high Rohtang pass, Suraj Taal some valley views at on the way to Kyelang casting director Altaf Hasan found versatile talent through Himachal Pradesh Repertory theatre circle found real people and villages, Puri Jagannath a famous Indian film director son Aksh Petla played protagonist, Rohit Ranka as his friend and Karan Sehaghal a friend in their journey a village boy ,Peejee is strange man appears in the film he is a real nomad lives in mountains his character is mysterious, Vikram Rathod from Hyderabad Central University he is from Mandi district played Khemu Father he is an amazing actor to discover, Thakoordaas as Shepherd, Mehar and Ram sigh played group of gossiping villagers, rest all talent found from Himachal Pradesh

Filming[edit]

The lotus pond was shot in two schedules The first schedule was in may–june 2009 and then next in september–october 2009. Keeping the weather conditions and obstacle working at higher altitude @14000 ft with kids in consideration, we have a break coz of heavy snowfall and children were unable to climb mountains we broke the second schedule the first part of the film is shot in summer and the second schedule was in Monsoon trying to match some of the major scenes looks.the film started from Manali 1200 ft altitude and ended up climax shoot at 1400 ft of Sarkundi pass and Suraj Tal. The entire filming was completed in 27 days, The 1st-day shoot movie opening at Hadimbha Temple with the blessing of Hadimbha Maatha.

The principal photography locations began at the very ancient village at Segli near Sanchar village. Kids School and campus was shot at Manali DPS school. Major traveling trekking was at Parvathi River at Kasol , Beas river area at Manali and in Pinewoods on the way to Grahan Village, Rohatgi pass Camping at higher altitude children were sick and minus degrees temperature we used to sleep on the location pitch tents by yourself and used have campfire at nights and its very memorable freezing snow mountains, horses and Ponies for transport, local people help, only trek roots were major obstacles or our team there is no other way transport AL Nitin Kumar production support was big support in bringing local guide and a doctor on location and food and snack used to serve very hot and Andhra Pickles and Rasam was major attraction among us .had taken good care and local support major setback Jeevan Thakoor, Mehar Ramsingh, Thakoordas, they were local talent and management team some leftovers pickup at Hyderabad The original film score composed by Suni Kashaypp additional Himachal folk songs done by Goldy
