The MarTian SMG (born Marvin E. Haskins, January 12, 1987) is an American record producer, recording artist, songwriter, mixing engineer, and graphic designer based in Buffalo, New York. He is credited as the producer of "Dirt" by rapper Key Glock, a single that charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and appeared on the 2023 album Glockoma 2.
Early life and education
Haskins was born in Buffalo, New York. He graduated from Seneca Vocational High School with a diploma in CAD/CAM robotics. He later studied music business and graphic design at Villa Maria College, where he also trained in audio engineering under the mentorship of Anthony Casuccio, an Associate Professor and Chair of Music Industry at the college who has worked on mastering and mixing projects (including Goo Goo Dolls–related work) and founded Xtream Audio Mastering.[1][2]
Career
Haskins produced an instrumental in 2021 titled "Soulmate", which was later used as the beat for Key Glock's single "Dirt". Although initially uncredited, he was later verified as the sole producer on platforms such as Genius and Muso.AI.
Recognition
"Dirt" entered the Billboard Hot 100 at position 88 for the week of April 15, 2023.[3] The track has been verified as having over 51 million streams across major platforms and has received a five-times Gold certification on the music analytics platform Muso.AI.[4] His production credit is also listed on Genius.com.[5]
