The Pride of our Footscray Community Bar, or simply Pride Bar is an LGBTQIA+ bar and nightclub in Melbourne, Australia. The bar opened in January 2018 and is part owned by 200 people who invested what they could to start the bar.[1]
The bar is notable in Melbourne particularly for it's live drag queen and transgender[2] cabaret shows. The bars focus is on bringing the LGBTQIA+ and straight communities together under the same roof. The bar has an innovative community ownership structure which is rare in Australia for a bar. The bar has attracted headlines for being one of the first bars in Australia to accept Bitcoin both on chain [3]and via the Bitcoin Lightning Network.[4]
