The Spy
The Spy is the sixth episode of season 2. Will Byers is taken by Joyce Byers, Bob Newby, and Mike Wheeler to the hospital, where the doctors believe that Will is burning from fire, and they use medicine to make him sleep. Jim Hopper cleans up after being stuck in the vines for a long time. Dustin Henderson starts to explain D'Artagnan and what he expects to do with Steve Harrington, who is walking with him. Steve prepares his weapons, but when he enters the cellar, Dart ate a big chunk of the wall and escaped from it. A bunch of child service agents enter the Byers house, believing that Joyce has been mistreating Will and that is why Will was burning. None of the people are able to explain what is wrong with Will. Johnathan Byers, Nancy Wheeler, and Murray Bauman decide to write a newspaper story about what happened last year. They start to celebrate by drinking vodka, which Murray claims he got by smuggling it with help from Ivan the Smuggler. He offers Johnathan and Nancy to sleep inside of his bedroom with him. Johnathan offers to sleep on the ground, seeing that the bed may be a bit small, but Murray tells Johnathan that he and Nancy look like they are massively in-love, and then offers to sleep on the ground himself, before going on the ground. Dustin tells his friends to meet inside of a junkyard. Hopper leaves his house and is escorted to Hawkins lab, where he is shown the gate to the Vale of Shadows, now taller than Hawkins lab itself and extending towards the ground. Hopper determines that the big gate must be why there are so much vines. Bob suggests moving away to a different country that is less poor. Murray tells Nancy and Johnathan to leave his house, and they head back to Hawkins. Max Mayfield decides that she is bored being home alone, so she leaves. Will is revealed to have his brain starting to get feasted on by the mind flayer and now suffers from memory loss. Will catches on fire again and starts screaming in pain. Joyce is worried about what will happen to Will after his brain is completely eaten. Steve gives Dustin advice on how to purr better to girls while they are tossing around chocolates to possibly cause Dart to get scared and head back to Dustin’s basement. Hopper returns to his cabin and cannot find Eleven, but he shrugs this off as Eleven falling into a very deep slumber. Johnathan and Nancy go back to Johnathan’s house and finds that it is completely empty, other than a map of Hawkins that looks like a very childish drawing. Steve and the kids pour gasoline into Dustin’s basement with a lighter set up to a button to hopefully kill Dart if he comes. Max has a chat with Lucas Sinclair’s sister Erica Sinclair and starts talking about how she moved from Cairo and how she misses Egypt. They suddenly hear a loud roar and realize that Dart is scared of chocolates. As Dustin heads to beat up Dart, he sees more Dart-like creatures and the kids start running. Everybody makes it into an abandoned bus except for Dustin, who gets eaten by Dart and the other baby Demogorgons. Will apologizes to Mike, telling him that he was sick of accidentally setting himself on fire, as Will tells Joyce to not stay, but go.
