The Strap-Ons, originally named The Pimps, are an American garage punk band from Norfolk, Virginia, U.S.[1]

History[edit]

The founding members are Brian idle edsel Diederich, Joe Emmitt George, Billy England, and Ruben Rumella. Three singles were released under the name The Pimps before the band changed its name to The Strap-Ons.[2]

The Strap-Ons are featured on MTV’s Selene is Made into a Surfer Chick in season 5 of their Made program series.[citation needed]

The band's style and influences have been revealed by reviews and music press. Kerrang! magazine likened their sound to the Ramones, Dead Boys, and Johnny Thunders and also compared the vocals to Dick Manitoba.[3]

As in the Kerrang reviews, Maximumrocknroll magazine described the character of the band, and reviewed and interviewed The Strap-Ons quite extensively. In issue 243 of the magazine, the band was described as "snot punk" with "great vocal style…and great lyrics".[4] In issue 213, they said: "These Virginian delinquents are full of juvenile, obnoxious ideas and dirty".[5] In another review, the magazine said, "very snotty, very cool, and the song "Strap on Sally" is a must hear."[6]
