The Tiger’s Apprentice is an upcoming 2022 computer animated fantasy adventure film directed by Carlos Baena, based on the book of the same name.
Tom, a teenage Chinese American boy meets a talking tiger named Mr. Hu and discovers that he must guard the Chinese zodiac from an evil phoenix.
On October 9, 2008, Cartoon Network announced a live-action animated film adaptation of The Tiger’s Apprentice with David Magee writing the script. On October 19, 2011, Rainmaker Entertainment started producing on the animation with Jane Startz producing the film. The project was cancelled after Cartoon Network stopped developing live-action projects and the rights lapsed. In June 2019, Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria revealed that Carlos Baena will make his feature film directorial debut with Magee and Harry Cripps writing the script and Startz, Raman Hui, and Kane Lee will produce.
In March 2019, Paramount Pictures announced an animated film adaptation to be released on February 11, 2022.
