The Turnbow Trap
The Turnbow Trap is the third episode of Season five. Eleven and Jim Hopper attempt to break open a door to beat the game. Hopper uses a knife, while Eleven uses her bare hands. Eleven realizes that she is very hungry and eats Demogorgon meat that was in Hopper’s backpack. All of a sudden, the military send a hedgehog to attack them, causing Eleven to be very weak. Will Byers tells Robin Buckley about what he heard Henry Whatsit say about Derek Turnbow being his next fun companion, but Joyce Byers finds Will and starts whapping him with a slipper. Will tells Joyce to stop and instead focus on Derek, who was going to be the next person Mr. Whatsit touched. Inside Hawkins Elementary School, Miss Harris watches as Derek slaps Mr. Whatsit, calling him an imaginary friend. Mr. Whatsit makes Holly Wheeler breakfast and asks her what kid he should touch next, and she tells him that his best friend Derek would be a good choice of fun, as his behavior was very outstanding. Mr. Whatsit leaves the house and tells Holly that she is allowed to leave whenever she wants. Eleven starts to get prickled a lot by the hedgehog, and Robert Akers tells the people to start shooting at Eleven. Hopper shields Eleven with his own body and throws a grenade, causing everybody except for Akers to collapse. Mike Wheeler, Nancy Wheeler, Jonathan Byers, Steve Harrington, and Dustin Henderson all gather inside of Robin’s farm, where she tells them about their plan to protect Derek from Mr. Whatsit. They will poison every member of the Turnbow family except Derek, and they would then shoot Eugene McCorkle and his grandson Danny McCorkle to get revenge for them shooting Hopper. Then, they will frame Derek for this crime, causing Mr. Whatsit to have to pay ransom to Hopper. So, they would get enough money to pay for a private investigator. Holly finds a letter from Mr. Whatsit telling her to meet him in the forest. Jack Sullivan searches for Akers, but Eleven and Hopper keep him tied up underneath a bus and get ready to crush him after he gives information. Mike finds Erica Sinclair inside of school and asks her to poison Tina Turnbow and her family. However, Erica tells Mike that she and Tina are besties. Mike convinces her by telling her she could touch Derek. Robin goes with Will to get some poison from the hospital, but Robin tells Will she has to go see Vickie Dunne. Will is disgusted and forces Robin to stop sitting down, which results in Robin standing up in front of Vickie. Will grabs the box of poisons and leaves. Inside of the McCorkle farm, Murray Bauman arrives and shoots Eugene and Danny, as well as bringing the materials needed to frame Derek. Dustin starts drilling a hole into the top of Steve’s car, but Steve catches Dustin and drills a hole into his head. Jonathan is nervous about breaking up with Nancy to attempt to pursue Robin and talks with Murray about it. Murray suggests using their shared trauma as an advantage and traumatizing her, resulting in her breaking up with Jonathan. However, it is revealed Nancy has an engagement ring. Eleven interrogates Akers, who tells her that another Hawkins Lab inhabitant is currently being held inside of Dr. Kay’s private room, and gives up the location of Dr. Kay’s private room. He then tells Eleven to stop touching Martin Brenner. Erica goes to Tina’s house and brings a pie. While Tina happily eats it, Ken Turnbow and Mrs. Turnbow question whether they should. Just then, Tina collapses in front of them. Erica then stabs Mr. And Mrs. Turnbow, before blindfolding Derek, hitting him in the head, and taking him to McCorkle Farm. While Mike is hiding all evidence of the Turnbows inside the house, a Demogorgon appears. Derek wakes up and realizes he is being tied up and sees Erica with a bloodied knife with Eugene and Danny’s bodies near him; he begs his “imaginary friend” Mr. Whatsit to come, but Vecna hears this. Will overhears Vecna calling a Demogorgon to McCorkle Farm. Meanwhile, Holly goes to where Mr. Whatsit told her to meet up, and she finds a hooded figure revealed to be Mr. Sandman.
