The Walking Dead: Summit is an upcoming American post-apocalyptic television miniseries based on The Walking Dead. It is a spin-off of the television series based on the comic book with Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira reprising their roles from the series. It is intended to be the seventh installment of The Walking Dead franchise and is scheduled to premiere in 2023 on AMC.

Development[edit]

The miniseries was announced in July 2022 by Scott M. Gimple, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira at SDCC 2022. Lincoln and Gurira signed on to reprise their respective roles from the television series. Lincoln had said they would have more to talk about in a year's time.[1]

In October 2022, Gurira revealed she would be writing for the series and had co-created it with Gimple.[2]

In December 2022, it was revealed the series was titled The Walking Dead: Summit.[3]

Scott M. Gimple and Danai Gurira serve as showrunnners for the miniseries.[2]

The miniseries was set up by The Walking Dead's series finale Rest in Peace.

Filming[edit]

Principal photography is set to begin in January 2023.[2]

Release[edit]

The Walking Dead: Summit is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023, after the eleventh and final season of The Walking Dead has concluded.[1]
