Thundermother is a rock band that was founded by Moa Henriksson and Filippa Nässil in Växjö in 2009 after having written songs together[1]. The song Rock 'N' Roll Disaster by Henriksson and Nässil later became the name of Thundermother's debut album[2]. Nathalie Lejon and Tomas Salonen completed the band and played for a short period of time[3], until 2011 when the whole lineup except for Nässil was recast with Eve Riott (Vocals) and Mandy Maniac (Bass)[4].

In 2012, Nässil once again re-grouped and the band, now consisting of Nässil, Giorgia Carteri (Guitar)[5], Evami Ringqvist (Vocals)[6], Rebecca Meiselbach (Drums)[7] and Rut Karin Arvidsson (bass)[8] recorded the band's first promo CD[9] and supported Danko Jones on tour[10].

The band signed with Warner Music Sweden and their debut album Rock 'N' Roll Disaster was recorded in 2014 with the band members at that time, Clare Cunningham (Vocals), Filippa Nässil (Guitar), Giorgia Carteri (Guitar), Tilda Stenqvist (Drums) and Linda Ström (Bass).[11]

In March 2017, Cunningham broke ties with Thundermother due to internal struggles with the band[12], saying she needed to focus on her mental and physical health after it declined rapidly[13]. Cunninghams departure was followed by Carteri, Stenqvist and Ström, also leaving the band[14] [15]. Nässil chose to continue with a new line-up, recruiting Guernica Mancini (Vocals), Majsan Lindberg (Bass) and Emlee Johansson (Drums).[16] In 2020 the band signed a record deal with AFM Records[17].

In September 2021, Thundermother parted ways with the bassist Majsan Lindberg.[18] Soon after, Mona Lindgren was announced as the new bass player.[19]

In fall 2022, the band supported Scorpions on the North American leg of their world tour[20].

In early 2023, Filippa Nässil fired the singer Guernica Mancini, which led Emlee Johansson and Mona Lindgren to voluntarily leave the band in solidarity with Mancini[21][22] and they shortly after formed a new band together, The Gems.[23] Nässil shortly after announced the singer Linnéa Vikström, returning bassist Majsan Lindberg and drummer Joan Massing as new band members.[24]

The band has played at Sweden Rock Festival, Bråvalla festival, Skogsröjet, Metaltown, Getaway Rock Festival, and in 2018 joined Kiss on the Kiss Kruise.[25] [26]
