Tilda Del Toro
Tilda Del Toro (born July 11, 1985) is an American actor and producer best known for Night School, Fonzo, and Our Brand Is Crisis.
Early life and education[edit]
Del Toro was born and raised in north Chicago to parents of Peruvian, Puerto Rican, and Spaniard descent. She began acting and modeling at a young age before later being cast in Steppenwolf Theatre Company's original production of House on Mango Street. She also performed in multiple shows directed by Del Close, including A Strange Short Trip, and co-created the first all-Latino improvisation troupe, Salsation.
She trained professionally at the University of Chicago with the Moscow Art Theatre, The Second City, The Annoyance Theatre, and Improv Olympic, Chicago. In addition to acting, she studied modern dance at Columbia College Chicago, and English at Northwestern University. During her training, her mentors included James Caan and James Franco. She is a member of Studio 4 in Hollywood, California.[1]
Career[edit]
Del Toro has appeared in multiple films throughout her career, including several that she also wrote, produced, and directed. She has also guest starred on multiple Latino television shows. In 2015, she appeared alongside Sandra Bullock in the comedy-drama Our Brand Is Crisis.[2][3]
In 2018, Del Toro was cast in the Al Capone biopic Fonzo in the role of Mona Lisa, opposite Tom Hardy, as Al Capone's mysterious ex-lover.[4] The film is written and directed by Josh Trank.[5] That same year, she also played the role of Maria in the Malcolm D. Lee film Night School opposite Kevin Hart.[6]
