Tinalley String Quartet

The Tinalley String Quartet is one of Australia's premier chamber ensembles.

The Quartet was founded in Melbourne in 2003 and in 2007, were First Prize Winners at the 9th Banff International String Quartet Competition. [1] Tinalley remains the only Australian string quartet invited to compete the Banff International String Quartet Competition. Prior to this, Tinalley was awarded Grand Prize at the 2005 Australian Chamber Music Competition.

The Quartet was appointed Quartet in Residence[2] at The University of Queensland in 2018 and released its first album[3] on the DECCA Classics label the same year, featuring the string quartets of Ravel and Debussy.

Tinalley String Quartet has collaborated with such diverse artists as jazz pianist Gwilym Simcock, Australian Shakespearean actor John Bell, soprano Greta Bradman, singer/songwriter Lior and pianists Piers Lane, Andrey Gugnin and Daniel de Borah. It has commissioned new works by Ade Vincent, Calvin Bowman and Nigel Westlake.
