Tom Harb serves as the co-chair of the American Middle East Coalition for Democracy. His work spans both business and political activism, with a focus on American-Middle Eastern relations.[1]. Harb has held leadership positions in several organizations[2] that focus on education and advocacy for Middle Eastern communities[3] in the United States and internationally.
Early life and education
Harb was born and raised in Lebanon, and moved to the United States for higher education. He obtained a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts in 1982, followed by a Master's in Structural Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1983.[4]
Career
In 1986, Harb founded Harbco, Inc, a construction firm based in Central Florida. He expanded his business to real estate, where he serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Phoenicia Development, LLC[5] an Orlando-based real estate development company.
Political activism and advocacy
American Middle East Coalition for Democracy [6]
As the Co-Chair for the American Middle East Coalition for Democracy[4], Harb is involved in educational initiatives among Middle Eastern communities in the United States[1] and participates in discussions through Middle East media[7]
UNSCR 1559 and International Lebanese Committee[8]
Harb has been involved in activities related to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1559[1], which addresses the disarmament of militant and terrorist organizations in Lebanon. He serves as the Secretary General for the International Lebanese Committee for UNSC 1559[9], a role focused on the resolution's implementation.[10]
American Maronite Union[11]
As Chairman of the American Maronite Union[12], Harb works to preserve Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence. The Union is engaged in educational efforts directed at the Maronite American-Lebanese communities, with a focus on their heritage and culture. It also addresses topics related to Lebanese independence.[13]
