Wes Schroll is an American technology entrepreneur, speaker, and expert in consumer packaged goods, retail, and mobile app technologies.[1] He is the founder and CEO of Fetch Rewards,[2] which has a valuation of over a billion dollars and over 11 million active users.[3] Forbes Magazine named Schroll in their 2020 30 Under 30: Consumer Technology category.[4]
Early life and early career
Schroll was born in 1993 and raised in Acton, Massachusetts. Schroll honed his entrepreneurial skills in his sophomore year at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School in Massachusetts, when he launched Fuzion Innovations, a Boston-based startup that was an incubator for technology solutions.[citation needed]
Career
Schroll attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Wisconsin where he first conceived of the idea for Fetch Rewards in 2013 as a sophomore.[5] He later met his co-founder, Tyler Kennedy, in an entrepreneurial studies class.[6] After winning monetary prizes at the Burrill Business plan competition, the Boston College Venture Competition, the UMass Amherst Innovation Challenge: The Seed Pitch and Hult Prize, and the Perkins Coie Business Plan Competition, Schroll dropped out of university in 2014 to focus full-time on starting the business. Originally launched in the grocery category, the Fetch Rewards app expanded rapidly after its launch in 2017. Since then, it has expanded into other retail verticals and reached over 11 million monthly active users in 2021.[7] With a $210 million funding round led by SoftBank Vision Fund 2 in 2021, the shopping rewards app has a valuation of over $1 billion,[8] and partnerships with PepsiCo, Kimberly-Clark, Albertsons Cos., and others.[9] Fetch employs over 650 full-time employees across 40 states.
