Tommy Jackett (Born 1 September 1988) is an Australian podcaster and filmmaker who is the co-host of The Daily Talk Show and co-founder of BIG MEDIA COMPANY.

Radio career[edit]

In 2013, Southern Cross Austereo announced Tommy as a co-host of Triple M Shepparton’s breakfast show, Tommy and Candy,[1][2] moving from a career in personal training and working as a red carpet reporter at Triple M Melbourne.

In April 2014, Tommy’s co-host Candy left Star FM.[3] It was later announced that Stacey June would replace Candy on the Star FM breakfast show as Tommy’s new co-host.[4]

In December 2014, Tommy left the Star FM Breakfast show[5] to join KIIS 101.1 as the Digital Content Producer for Matt Tilley and Jane Hall on Matt & Jane.

Filmmaking[edit]

Combining localism and topicality, Tommy has built a fan base around his YouTube videos, making multiple media appearances.

In March 2016, Tommy documented the ‘real’ number of steps on the Thousands Steps trail in the Dandenong Ranges National Park.[6][7] Parks Victoria provided a statement saying "rangers believed Jackett was accurate in his counting of how many steps there were, but the 1000 steps name was not actually about the number of steps at the site, but in recognition of the soldiers who served on the Kokoda Track."[8]

In September 2017, Tommy posted a video “Fishing For 'O Bikes' In The Yarra River”, causing a buzz on social media.[9][10][11][12] oBike was later required to hire external contractors to gather the remainder of submerged oBikes.[13][14]

In September 2018, Tommy exposed 7-Eleven’s coffee rip off, accusing 7-Eleven of overcharging customers with its $2 and $3 “large” and “super” cups.[15][16] Tommy demonstrated that the contents of a $3 cup easily fit into a $2, while a $2 cup “almost” fits into a $1 cup.

Podcast[edit]

Tommy is currently working alongside Josh Janssen on The Daily Talk Show, a weekday podcast where Tommy and Josh chat about life, creativity, business and relationships — big questions and banter.[17] Tommy and Josh are also regularly visited by guests and friends of the show, including Hamish Blake,[18] Sam Mac,[19] Jack Post[20][21] and many others.
