TransparentSea Farm is an urban farm based in Downey, California producing whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) using recirculating aquaculture system technology.[1][2][3][4] TransparentSea is among the United States' first urban shrimp farms.[1]

The company's shrimp are hatched in Florida, and delivered to the 18,000 square foot warehouse in Downey to be raised in a nursery and subsequently one of 8 production tanks for 3 months.[5][6] TransparentSea produces 80,000 pounds of prawns anually, with deliveries to Los Angeles-based chefs and local farmers markets.[5]

The company was founded by Steve Sutton, who formerly worked as a fisherman.[1]
