Some of the program's main policy themes consist of energy security, climate change, maritime disputes, and space.
Stabilization and Post-Conflict Reconstruction[edit]
This research program pursues provision of in-depth coverage of the present thinking and practices linked to stabilization and rebuilding activities in conflict-hit countries. It brings together recognized scholars and practitioners in the field.
Middle East Security[edit]
The Middle East Security program[3] focuses on national security challenges and opportunities emerging from the Arab world. This program explains the everchanging balance of power within the Middle East and assesses the United States and Arab states’ responses to manage the changes[7] . The program focuses on the regional player’s perceptions of threats and opportunities and plans adopted to tackle these.
To achieve this, both in-house and non-resident experts and researchers conduct cutting-edge research and policy-relevant analysis on pressing issues such as the role of Iranian militias in Iraq, the threat of ISIS, the evolution of the Muslim Brotherhood, and challenges such as water security, sectarian conflicts, and cyber threats.
Humanitarian Security[edit]
This program is based on a broad understanding of human security that aims to protect people from the entire range of threats that arise from human action, environmental degradation, or unforeseen natural catastrophes.
This program emphases on the eventuality and preemptive actions that governments and global organizations can take to protect their people, along with effective interventions in other countries and regions to secure those made vulnerable by uncertainty and frail governance. The problems tackled as part of this program consist of migration, food security, pandemics, emergency management, and international relief instruments.
AI & Advanced Technology Research[edit]
This program examines the influence of state-of-the-art AI and high-tech – such as quantum computing, data science, and blockchain – on the civilian sphere, including healthcare sector, the labor market, transportation, and military sphere. A team of in-house and non-resident researchers collaborate to develop related policy insights.
Political Islam[edit]
This program examines political Islam movements, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood, and their various domestic, regional, and international affiliates.
The program studies these movements’ approach toward various issues, including women’s and minorities’ rights, human rights, the nation-state, and relations with others.
Tolerance and Co-existence[edit]
This program keeps up with the rising worldwide consideration for the values of coexistence, tolerance, and human fraternity as important to global peace and security. It emphasizes on analyzing challenges and risks threatening these values and how to tackle them at economic, political, intellectual, and cultural levels.
Also, the program aims to establish a global system to promote tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity. It provides a platform for dialogue between researchers and experts from different religions to strengthen human values and thwart attempts to politicize religions and embroil them in conflicts.
Global Trade and Investment[edit]
The Global Trade and Investment Research Program focuses on international trade and foreign direct investment (FDI). This program analyzes trade policies, their design based on individual country’s development needs, and their impact on economic growth, especially for developing countries.
The program also explores FDI as a critical component of international finance and its role in host countries’ economic growth. Current and future trends in trade and FDI and global institutions’ role in promoting them are also a key focus for this program.

The Environment and Sustainable Development Program’s primary focus is on the intersection of sustainable economic growth and protecting the environment. The program analyses the best sustainable development approach, which balances the needs for equitable and inclusive economic development, sustainable natural resources management, and environmental protection.
