Tribel is an online social media and social networking service founded and launched in November of 2022 by Rafael Rivero and Omar Rivero in the wake of the purchase of Twitter, now known as X, in October 2022 by Elon Musk.[1] In November 2022, several media outlets including Reuters,[2] USA Today[3] and Washington Examiner[4] listed Tribel as a Twitter alternative. In December of 2022, Tribel was listed by Twitter as a "prohibited platform," and all links to Tribel were banned on the platform.[5]
History
2022: Initial Launch
Tribel declares itself as “social media done right,” with an emphasis on safeguarding “morality, truth and We the People,” according to its App Store description [6]. Their Twitter bio reads: "We’re an innovative pro-democracy Twitter alternative that’s free of hatred & fake news."[citation needed]
Appearance and features
Tribel allows users to curate their feeds and connect with like-minded users using audience targeting features.[7]
Posts
User posts can be targeted to specific audiences in Tribel. However, such targeting is not required. With targeting, posts are curated for the feeds of other users who have identified their interests to include the areas of targeting. Feeds are also targeted using the users’ selected areas of interest. This customization allows users to find and establish connections quickly.[8]
Features
Tribel's features include:[9]
- Ad-Free Experience
- Customized News Feed
- Trending and Breaking Feeds
- Targeted Audience Reach
- Expert Discovery
- Recognition and Engagement
- Communities
- Enhanced Privacy Controls
Funding and Finances
Tribel's WeFunder campaign has raised over $2.8M to date. The company estimates a total worth of over $27M over time. The investing funding campaign is set to expire on November 5, 2023. [10]
