TruckersMP, also known as TMP and previously called ETS2MP, is a multiplayer modification for the classic trucking simulation games; Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
It was originally founded on May 1st, 2014 by Eryk "Rootkiller" Dwornicki and Michał "mwl4" Wójtowicz[1] and provides a massive multiplayer online platform[2] for many users to come together and drive[3]. Both video games are developed by SCS Software, a game developer based in the Czech Republic.
PC Gamer describes TruckersMP as "remarkable" despite a few drawbacks.[4] TruckersMP also has a partnership with online, community radio station TruckersFM[5] and the map development team ProMods.
What is TruckersMP?[edit]
Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator are both single player games which can be changed with mods made by the community[6], but sometimes, it can get quite lonely on the road, and that is where TruckersMP comes in. With TruckersMP, there are multiple different servers which players can join others on[7]. You can also make Virtual Trucking Companies (VTCs)[8] and these are companies, set-up and ran by real people who come together to drive around[9].
Who runs TruckersMP?[edit]
TruckersMP has a voluntary staff team of over 230 members, including an upper staff team who manage the different teams, a game moderation team, a community moderation team, a support team and so on. They are all voluntary and work to keep the service running.
Within the upper-staff team, there are multiple different groups, the development team who may focus on either the website or the game itself and this often involves a large amount of work. Then you have the community management team who manage and run the TruckersMP social media and also look at new ideas for the community. There are then the different management positions for each team who help guide and run the teams they are in charge of. Above the management team are the project co-ordinators who help guide and decide on key decisions for the project, with the game producer working to close the gap of communication between the development team and the wider team.[10]
