Tuffet
A tuffet, hassock, or a pouffe is a piece of furniture used as a footstool or low seat.It can also meana clump of something (eg: Grass tuffets).
About the origin of the word: It is from the 1550s, according to media; Furthermore, [its meaning at that time, was] "little tuft, from Old French touffel".[1]
Tuffet is mentioned in "Little Miss Muffet", a nursery rhyme:
Little miss Muffet, she sat on her tuffet
Eating her curds and whey
Along came a spider, who sat down beside her
And frightened miss Muffet away

The imperfect limerick does not say if miss Muffet sat on grass tufts or a low seat.
