Turners is a British provider of logistics founded in 1947 by Frank and Wallace Turner.[2] The company provides transport and logistics services including Tanker, Container and temperature controlled distribution.[3] The company has over 25 sites in the United Kingdom.[4]
History[edit]
The company was founded in 1947 by Frank and Wallace Turner. The business was nationalised in 1949 and denationalised in 1951.[2] The company purchased a site in fordham 1952. Current managing director Paul Day joined the business in 1983 under the guidance of his father Wallace Turner.
Drivers based at the Grangemouth depot began strike action in January 2022 in a dispute over pay. The drivers who worked on the Q8 Aviation Deliveries contract which provides fuel services for a number of major aviation companies were on strike for nine days.[5]
In 2019 a company manager was found to have stolen over £200,000 from the business. The employee was caught after the banks he transferred money to became suspicious and contacted Turners. [6]
