Tyler Whipkey (born September 22, 2002) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter.
Career
Whipkey had been asking for a guitar for quite some time because he wanted to play songs by his favorite band at the time Skillet. His parents finally gave in. Whipkey was given his first guitar by his parents for Christmas in 2012. They thought it would be just "a passing whim" (as his mother put it) but he continued playing and teaching himself how to play. He would teach himself with tabs he found on the internet. He also had a Skype guitar lesson with Seth Morrison from Skillet. Morrison helped Whipkey learn about different tunings and techniques on the guitar along with how to play some of their songs.[1]
Whipkey and one of his best friends, Matthew Adams, would always try to start bands. Whipkey was in middle school and Adams was a freshman in high school. The bands' names included Counterstep and 3CHO. Whipkey still claims he would like to be in a band because he loves performing. However, he says he is perfectly content making his own music for now.
Whipkey has had only one concert in his career on May 11, 2019. He mostly played covers. His setlist included (but not limited to) songs by Skillet, Red, and Linkin Park. He also performed an original titled Philophobia, which was released on major stores but is no longer available. [1]
Personal life
Tyler Whipkey grew up Christian and is still active in his faith. Whipkey's mother would tell him that he should write and perform Christian songs. He claims that Nightmare is about someone who is crying out for help from God and Light in the Dark is a fight between the Light (God) and the dark (The devil). Tyler will claim that you can't really write worship-style songs in his genre of music.
"I would love to write songs that someone could worship God through but it doesn't really fit my style. It's hard to have a sappy moment with God if there is a distorted electric guitar and loud cymbals banging in your ears. Don't get me wrong though; it is still possible. Just difficult."

Tyler Whipkey has a wife, Eve Whipkey, and they've been together since 2018, separating in January of 2019 and getting back together in November of 2020. They currently are long-distance but plan on living with each other and having kids in the future.[2]
