Ugochukwu Aronu (born January 25, 1994) is a Nigerian entrepreneur. He founded Xend Finance,.[1] functioning as its chief executive officer.

Early Life[edit]

Ugochukwu Aronu was born in Enugu state, on 25th January 1994, the son of paediatrician Ann and retired chartered accountant Christopher Uzochukwu Aronu. He and his three siblings were raised in a Christian home which influenced his life values.

He excelled academically and graduated from Federal Government College Enugu in 2010 and was admitted into The University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State where He obtained a BEng in Electronic engineering.

In 2016, he got exposed to blockchain through a colleague who was studying for a masters degree in the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland. He began scouting for resources and websites that held cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum and discovered Blockchain.info, which provided early inspiration. In a quest for knowledge, he soon developed some test DApps while building a crypto wallet from scratch.

Career[edit]

In his third year in university, Ugochukwu interned at KPMG Nigeria as a Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Tester. After his graduation in 2015, he worked as a Software Engineer at Lloydand Business Services until 2016 when he quit and went on to found his first company, Ugarsoft. He co-founded South Eastern Nigeria's first e-commerce platform - Ogwugo, He also co-founded Xend Finance, Wicrypt and Quiva Games.

Aronu has been invited to speak on numerous presitigeous platfroms, from Paxful's anniversary[2] to Tedx (NzaStreet).

Achievements[edit]

He Built Xend Finance - the first Decentralized Financial platform in Africa, His platform Xend, is backed by Binance (the biggest crypto exchange in the world) and also by Google. He has tried severally to draw the Nigerian government to invest in blockchain knowledge[3]. He also speaks on How he discovered to develop Africa as a continent with the use of Blockchain technology[4], something that has been in the research for decades. The Aronu-led Xend was one of 12 startups selected for 4th Google Launchpad Africa accelerator[5].

The super-young and creative inventor, Aronu went on to build the platform called Wicrypt. Wicrypt is undoubtedly the first peer-to-peer internet sharing and monetization network on the entire African continent, and also has the copyright for that technology infact. Wicrypt achieved profitability without a single shred of external investments. An was only the only African blockchain company selected by Kin Foundation in the world for $15,000 grant[6]. - His company, Wicrypt emerged as one of the winners of the Emerging Technology competition organized by Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) and received a grant of $5,500[7]. He also led the firm to become top 30 companies out of 673 companies in the Africa50 global challenge[8].

The young tech enterpreneur Aronu, co-founded Ogwugo - The first e-commerce platform to launch in the South Eastern part of Nigeria in 2018. Received a $20,000 grant from Ford foundation[9]

He also co-founded the famous Quiva Games, Which is the first blockchain game in Africa, developed in the year 2018.

Philanthrophy[edit]

Ugochukwu Aronu set up schemes through Xend Finance to fund and fire morales in Africans and Africa developers, over 5,000 people[10] got to benefit in the these schemes with hundreds of thousands of dollars involved.
