Ulrich Herb

Ulrich Herb (* 20. March] 1970 in Saarbrücken) is a German [[sociologist], librarian and [[information scientist]. He has been working at the Saarland University and State Library since 2001 and is responsible for third-party funded projects and electronic publications. In addition, he works as a freelance science and publication consultant and is active as a journalist.

Herb completed his sociology studies at the University of Saarland as a graduate sociologist and, after while for the Saarland University and State Library, also received his doctorate in [[information science] from the University of Saarland.] He holds various teaching positions, for example at the Hochschule der Medien in Stuttgart or the HTW Chur. Herb is regarded as one of the best-known experts on open science, open access and scientific publishing in Germany. His research topics and scientific and journalistic publications include Open Access, Open Science, Open Knowledge, Science Research and Scientific Integrity.
