Founding and history of the Grand Lodge[edit]

The Grand Lodge was founded by two Warsaw lodges - “Trzech Braci”(“Three Brothers”) and “Europa” and one Riga lodge “Saule Pērkons Daugava” (“Sun Thunder Daugava”). The founding of the Grand Lodge was a logical step following the reforms of the Obedience “Grand Orient of the Republic of Poland” (G⸫O⸫R⸫P⸫) which in other words was a continuation of activities in a new status and under a new name.

Diversity of opinion in the Grand Lodge for the Great East of the Republic of Poland[edit]

Despite the fact that some of the lodges had Patents from the Grand Orient of France, the “Grand Orient of the Republic of Poland” (G⸫O⸫R⸫P⸫) could not obtain a Patent for a long time. In 2018 Brother J.M. Skuja was authorized to represent the Grand Master Zbigniew Grabowski. Since then an active work was started with an aim of receiving the Patent, agreements and signatures of recognition with a number of Grand Lodges around the world. During and after the International Masonic Meeting C.L.I.P.S.A.S., which is an international organization that unite the Grand Lodges of the Liberal Freemasonry (Le Centre de liaison et d’information des puissances maçonniques signataires de l’appel de Strasbourg) in Barcelona in 2018, letters of recognition were signed with a number of European and Middle Eastern lodges. The issue with the Patent also then took a step forward. It then seemed less hopeful to receive it from the French Grand Orient, because in Poland there was already one Grand Orient – “Grand Orient of Poland” (G⸫O⸫P⸫) and tense relations, grudge between former brothers from G⸫O⸫P⸫ created a serious obstacle in obtaining the Patent, even if G⸫O⸫R⸫P⸫ were ready to change their name by abandoning the phrase “Grand Orient”.

All of the above facts led to disagreement between all seven lodges with regards to a further development of the Grand Lodge. As a result of this disagreement, four of the lodges chose to join the “Grand Orient of France”, while the remaining three continued to work within the existing Grand Lodge, completely changing its name.
