United States Ambassadors appointed by Joe Biden

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

This will be a list of United States ambassadors appointed by the 46th president of the United States, Joe Biden, starting after he assumes office on January 20, 2021. It is common that, after the end of a presidential administration, politically-appointed ambassadors (ones that are not career diplomats or former member of the United States Foreign Service), resign.[1] Biden stated in August 2020 that he would return "U.S. diplomacy back in the hands of genuine professionals," but did not commit to only appointing career diplomats in favor of campaign donors and fundraisers.[2]

Though traditionally nonpartisan, Biden received the endorsement of several career diplomats and national security experts prior to becoming president-elect.[3] After Biden was elected, several world leaders indicated that they looked forward to repairing relations with the United States at the start of the new administration.[4][5][6] Various Biden allies have been mentioned for possible diplomatic appointments, including former candidate Pete Buttigieg and former U.S. Senator Chris Dodd.[7][8]
