Unscrambl is an American artificial intelligence company headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. Its flagship offering, qbo insights, allows users to converse with their data in natural language. Unscrambl's patent pending approach for generating and executing controlled natural language queries on a relational database is a critical differentiator, when compared to the keyword or search based approach taken by competitors in the space.
Unscrambl's core technical founding team was a group of researchers, formerly employed at the world-renowned IBM T. J. Watson Research Center. The team came together in early 2014 to establish Unscrambl. The guiding principle, since the start, was to help organizations make sense of the massive volumes of stored of streaming data - and therefore the name Unscrambl. After bootstrapping for a couple of years, to fuel the rapid growth, Unscrambl raised its first round of venture capital in 2017. Mosaik partners, based in San Francisco, led the round. [5] To date, Unscrambl has raised close to $10 million in venture capital.
In late 2017, from amongst hundreds of applicants, Unscrambl was selected to be a part of the first cohort of Oracle Startup Cloud Accelerator programme in Singapore.[6] In 2018, Unscrambl was recognized and accredited by IMDA, Singapore as one of the innovative tech startups under its Spark program.[7] Unscrambl has continued to be recognized as a leading startup in the space of artificial intelligence and conversational analytics, this has included its inclusion in the Echelon Asia Summit 2019[8] and finding a place in Gartner's hype-cycles for Continuous Intelligence and Conversational Chatbots for Analytics.[9] More recently, Unscrambl was named amongst 30 top tech companies in Atlanta. [10]
As of 2020, Unscrambl has 57 employees and offices in United States, Turkey, India, Singapore and the Philippines.

qbo insights [11][12][edit]
qbo insights, Unscrambl's offering in the conversational analytics space promises to let users converse with their data in natural language. It leverages the recent advances made in NLP, NLG and the strides in database technologies and cloud computing. qbo insights takes a radically different approach to data access when compared to traditional business intelligence tools. It leverages the ability of modern database systems to provide quick response and does away with the need to create a datamart or a cube. An administrator connects to one of the several supported data sources[13] and configures the logical data model, which maps to the underlying physical data model and establishes the connect between the business-speak (e.g. industry specific acronyms, terms, summations and conditions) and the database. Once configured, an administrator can iterate an add additional elements to the logical data model at a later point in time. Once configured and deployed, users can simply type a question in natural language as if they were chatting with a human data analyst and get a response which is usually a chart with associated description. Users can continue their analysis, ask for refinements over the previous question and the namesake bot qbo maintains the context to give a semblance of conversation. Users can also interact with the charts returned by qbo and add them to boards to create a storyboard of the analysis. Importantly, qbo continues to learn from the user feedback and continues to learn the various paths of analysis and the terminology.
qbo can also be used in a group conversation, which allows multiple users to question qbo. qbo maintains context even across the users and such active engagement between qbo and a group of users strongly differentiates the product from the traditional business intelligence tools.
In mid 2020, Unscrambl announced the availability of qbo insights as qbo app for Microsoft Teams.[14] This integration allows users on Microsoft Teams to converse with qbo and get instant access to data and insights.
qbo decisions[15][edit]
qbo decisions, Unscrambl's offering in the continuous intelligence space is capable of ingesting massive volumes of streaming data and detect interesting events, patterns or anomalies in the same. The target industries, according to the company's website, is telecommunications, banking[16][17] and retail. In more advanced usage scenarios, qbo decisions has also been used in the healthcare industry including a pilot implementation in eICU settings at the Emory University.[18]
About the Logo[edit]
The flipped letters in Unscrambl's logo are not Cyrillic script, but indicative of the fact that almost always the raw data needs to be transformed before it can be analyzed. The missing letter E represents the fact that there is always some missing data. Even with flipped and missing letters, the human mind is able to recognize unscramble and this according to its founders is the guiding principle behind Unscrambl - make sense of data.
