Upamanyu Bhattacharyya is an Indian artist and animation film maker. He graduated from the National Institute of Design in 2014. He co-founded Ghost Animation, a Kolkata based animation studio and Otter Studios, a animation production and publishing company. He directed Wade, an animated short film, that won the City of Annecy award[1] at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival in 2020. In 2021, his first feature film, 'Heirloom' got selected for a development grant and residency hosted by the Annecy Festival[2]. The film is set in 1960's Ahmedabad and chronicles the life of a textile family.
Known for his distinctive illustration voice and 2D animation style, Upamanyu has worked on several animated title sequences for Indian films and TV shows, animated music videos for Anupam Roy, Parekh and Singh and others. He has also assisted storyboarding and animation for Isabel Herguera and Izebene Onederra.
